I am a software developer, experienced in utilizing the Agile framework to overcome a variety of challenges. I'm experienced in creating backend tools and infrastructure, leveraging Dropwizard and Kotlin for a REST API, Flink and Kafka for a data processing pipeline, as well as Scala for a client-facing web application. Most of my experience lies in a cloud-native environment (namely AWS and Google Cloud), using tools such as Terraform and Kubernetes to handle deployments.

As a programmer, much of my experience lies more towards the functional realm, utilizing technologies such as Scala and Elixir in tandem with Reactive Programming principles to create systems with a high level of availability, resilience, and responsiveness.

My personal interests currently include reading (lots of tech books, of course, as well as fantasy!), cooking, playing video games, and using technology to create shiny new things.

Assisted in infrastructure migration from multiple Kubernetes services and SQL server to a streamlined solution leveraging AWS S3, Lambda, and DynamoDB. Additionally engineered backend services for a client-facing web application using Scala with Akka.

Implemented tools for processing personal data using Flink and Kafka. Identified and solved issues with an SML compiler, equipping a research project to be able to compile multiple files at once. Additionally assisted in reworking the compiler to add a module system to a research language, focusing on "responsive parallelism".

Improved user experience by reducing load times (by an estimated 75%) by migrating a server from a local Windows-based homelab host to a VPS utilizing Ubuntu 20.04. Migrated site to run on a standard LAMP stack and ensured maintinence of the server over time.
